Internships
What is an Intern?
Our Volunteer program is getting a facelift for our Combined Festival 59! Rather than one pool of volunteers, we now have three teams of interns: Festival Interns, Stage Management Interns, and Technical Interns. See below to figure out which one is right for you!
- All Interns can expect to be scheduled around 20 hours.
- All Interns will recieve half off registration( $75) and a tshirt.
- All interns will still be eligible to participate in other festival events. Schedules will be worked out via email/text (festival interns) or at initial meetings on the first day of festival.
- All Interns will recieve some networking opportunities and training for their area. Experiences will vary based on option selected.
If any of these sound like you click the big purple button below to apply by December 14th, 2026.
General Festival Internship
The Festival Internship program is centered on the organization and support of the in-person Festival experience. This program most aligns with the previous volunteer experience in Region 2!
What to Expect
Interns will receive brief training for tasks as they are assigned to them, but can arrive at any point on Tuesday 1/12 (please note your availability to the best of your knowledge on the application form.
Duties may include running registration, selling merch, sitting at information desks, creating social media content, assisting with non-technical set ups, ushering for shows, and generally hopping in where needed. This program will have the most flexibility in terms of scheduling, and the most variety in types of tasks, but if there is an area a student is most interested in gaining experience we will try to accommodate those interests.
Stage Management Internship
The Stage Management Internship assists with the running, time keeping, and management of festival events. It is an opportunity to work on a new venture, hone management skills, and network with other students.
What to Expect
SM Interns should plan to meet by 5:00 PM on Tuesday for an overview of assignments and duties. SM Interns can expect to be assigned to areas such as the Irene Ryan Acting Auditions, Musical Theatre Auditions, 10-Minute Plays, and Tech Olympics.
Technical Theatre Internships
Student stage carpenters, riggers, electricians, board operators, and sound technicians are all encouraged to apply for a Technical Internship to assist in mounting and running festival productions and events. This internship is an opportunity to work in a new-to- you venue with faculty and students from other colleges from around the region. Interns in years past have described the event as an eye-opening and awesome experience.
What to Expect
Technical Interns should plan on meeting at 3:30 on Tuesday for an orientation on the role technical interns play at the festival. Some of those duties could include assisting with load-in and strike of participating productions and supporting technical aspects of festival-produced events. The tech intern schedule is structured so interns may also attend conference sessions, events, and performances as an integral part of the experience.
